The problem
Total Environmental Concepts (TEC) was engaged by HEH Civil to protect a newly formed drainage corridor at a sports reserve in Jimboomba, treating 800m² of freshly trimmed batter with erosion control matting and a hydraulic BFM and ProGanics application.
Client
HEH Civil
Location
Jimboomba, QLD
Services
Erosion control matting supply & install, plus hydraulic application
Area Treated
800 m²
How we fixed it
Trimmed and cleared the surface to achieve full soil contact, excavating anchor trenches along the crest and at every terminal edge
Rolled Grassroots erosion control matting down-slope in the direction of flow, keyed into the trenches, backfilled and compacted
Shingled and pinned overlaps to the specified pattern and density, lapping and terminating the matting around the culvert headwall, outlet apron and concrete chute
Applied BFM wood fibre and ProGanics (DuraVeg) at 3 t/ha as a single hydraulic slurry over the matting and adjoining disturbed areas, delivered by high-reach hose from the corridor edge to avoid tracking plant over finished surfaces
Ran the matting install and hydraulic application as one continuous operation rather than two separate mobilisations, closing the window in which the trimmed batter would otherwise sit unprotected
The result
The corridor was left with continuous protection, no untreated gaps at the culvert outlet, chute discharge, matting overlaps or pin penetrations, keeping sediment out of the adjoining bushland corridor and downstream waterway. Treated extents, products and dates were recorded and photographed throughout, supporting HEH Civil’s erosion and sediment control obligations and council inspection requirements.
