North Maclean, QLD
Services
Environmental weed management, native revegetation & infill planting
Area Treated
24,500 m²
The Challenge
The rehabilitation area, located within a vegetated corridor off Greenbank Road, was affected by a significant environmental weed infestation, particularly Asparagus africanus, which was competing directly with native vegetation and reducing the site’s ecological condition.
The site also contained remnant Melaleuca irbyana woodland, a threatened ecological community of high conservation value in the Logan region. Rehabilitating the area meant more than simple revegetation; it required establishing healthy threatened species plantings and producing an auditable spatial record that Council could rely on well after handover.
Our Approach
Targeted Weed Management
Weed control focused specifically on Asparagus africanus across the rehabilitation area, with all retained native vegetation protected throughout works, followed by site preparation and rubbish removal.
Threatened Species Revegetation
830 Melaleuca irbyana tubestock were planted as infill through the Environmental Management Zone. Every planting location was recorded on a Garmin GPS and staked in the field for identification, giving the project a plant-level spatial baseline and feeding directly into Council’s Melaleuca irbyana register.
Irrigation, Maintenance and Monitoring
Irrigation was provided to support plant establishment, with ongoing maintenance and monitoring reporting used to identify and address requirements as they arose.
Results
Environmental weeds actively managed and rehabilitation areas prepared for native vegetation establishment
830 Melaleuca irbyana tubestock planted, increasing native vegetation cover across the site
100% of planting locations GPS recorded and staked, giving Council a complete spatial baseline
Works accepted by Logan City Council onto a 24-month maintenance period from 28 August 2026
Site progressing toward handover as a significant conservation asset for the region
Testimonial
“The site looks fantastic.” — Logan City Council, on accepting the completed rehabilitation works
